The Sunday Rundown

Reading:

Currently I'm reading Jan Morris' "Spain". I discovered her last year in Greece and she's become my favourite travel writer. She manages to evoke place in such a way that you believe you're there. I highly recommend her.

Watching:

Have you ever heard of Mystery Science Theatre 3000? It has a crazy premise but this guy and his robots review bad movies and shorts. They are beyond hilarious and reference everything from Oedipus to Pulp Fiction. Now, I don't get every reference but I expect the show was written by Boomers.

Warning! Some content is not appropriate for younger listeners. Listener discretion is advised.

Thinking:

It's official, we're stuck with another election here in Canada. The only thing about this that I'm grateful for is we only have to listen to backstabbing propaganda for 36 days. Those poor people south of the border have had to listen to that stuff for two years.

Listening:

I've finally caved and listened to the new Coldplay cd. There are two or three songs that I enjoy though they're a little soft for my liking. This is "Viva La Vida" and I really appreciate the inclusion of strings in this song. It adds I didn't care for the original music video so I opted for this version that shows paintings by Thomas Cole.

Have you read Trieste by Jan Morris? How does Spain measure up against Trieste (which by the way, was wonderful -made me want to move to Trieste)?

I haven't read "Trieste" so I'll have keep you posted. I do have several of her other books out like "Wales" and "The World" so I'll let you know how those stack up.

The version I have of "Spain" is about thirty years old so I don't know how relative it is now or if a more recent edition has been updated.
