Reading:
I finished "The Nun" last week and am currently in the middle of "Dune". I read it quite a while ago and find that there's so much more that I missed the first time around. Herbert's story is so darn complex that I'm sure I'll find something new with every re-read.
Thinking:
Do people get buried with their braces on?
Listening:
I heard this song before, a really long time ago and recently found it again, thanks to someone lipsynching it on YouTube. While I don't have any sympathy for their clothing choices, I do like the song a lot. This is "Don't Stop Believing" by Journey.
Watching:
A new show I just found called "Flashpoint". Here's a small clip and I'll be doing a post next week about why it's so awesome and why I think you should watch it.

re: dune.
the first 4 dune books are really good. after that? they get kinda silly. like star trek: deep space 9. not that they're necessarily bad... but they take a good idea into the overkill zone and add whipped cream and cherries and sprinkles.
I found that the focus of the story started to unravel for me in "Dune Messiah" and "Children of Dune". Herbert just seemed to get lost in the complexities and politics of the story, leaving the plot to founder.
I loved Dune but have yet to read any of the subsequent books.
the 4th one seems more plot-driven... it does a lot to drive the vagaries of the 2nd and 3rd books out of your head. its like a really good ret-con that ties up all the loose ends.
I managed to stick with the whole series that Herbert wrote, which seemed to be bottoming out at the end, and then..."Who the hell are these guys?" right at the end. And the Herbert died. A good friend of mine tells me that Herbert's son did a good job of filling in the gaps, but I've little time to go out and pick up all those books again...
I've never seen a zombie with braces, so I imagine they take 'em off before the folks get buried. That's what I'm guessing, anyways.
A zombie with braces could do a lot of damage though.
teflon I've actually heard the opposite, that Brian Herbert massacred the series. Until I read the books though, I'll reserve judgement.
