Acquisition

You know how there are some pieces of furniture that really mean a lot to you, that own a piece of you? I've had furniture that has my literal blood, sweat and tears in the grain. I'd been looking for a new desk for a month and having no luck. They were too big, too small, too expensive, too ratty or I received no response from the seller. Today I managed to fall in love with and acquire this old beauty.

She's really far bigger than what I was looking for and has some serious gouges all over but when I saw her photo and her vintage drawer handles, I knew I had to have her. I have a feeling this desk and I are going to be together for some time.

What about you; do you have a piece of furniture that you're completely attached to? Something from college maybe or your first house?

My parents gave me a bright red IKEA armchair last Christmas, and it's the only piece of furniture I saved when I moved across the country. I know that probably wasn't the wisest decision, but it's so...bright! And perfect for contemplating in!

Great desk, by the way...

Thanks. I'm a big fan of the colour red so I understand why you'd want to take it cross country.

Wow, what a gorgeous desk! I can understand why you had to have it. We have the dining room table from my husband's childhood home: it's really far too big for two people (he came from a family of 7) but he is attached to it, and by this time so am I! It serves as a great desk half the time anyway;)
