Scrutinizing Shakespeare

One of the many things I want to work on this year is reading Shakespeare. Last year I fell in love with his work and decided I wanted to finish off my "Shakespeare a Month" challenge as well as look at some of his other work.

Below I've outlined his plays, poems, sonnets and apocrypha. I've also picked some films that have been recommended to me as well as books on Shakespeare. I don't have a timeline for this but I wanted to post it to remind me of what I want to accomplish this year.

Haha! Love that you included "Strange Brew"! Haven't seen that one since high school. Thanks for the flashback! Time for some Elsinore beer :)

PS I would also highly recommend David Tennant as Hamlet if you haven't seen it. He's such an incredible actor!

Tennant's Hamlet you're right! I actually own this dvd so shame on me for not including it. When I heard he was leaving Dr. Who for Hamlet I was not a happy bunny. But then they filmed it and it had Patrick Stewart and David Tennant! I will revise my list so thank you for reminding me.

I just read Ann-Marie macDonald's "Goodnight Desdemona (Good Morning Juliet)" this week - I'll be writing and psoting about it soon - and remembered your Shakespeare post. It's a delightful romp through Othello and Romeo+Juliet, with a cameo by the ghost of Yorick. It would be fun to read after reading those plays for sure!
